 FISH & GAME CLUB Adult/Child Ice Fishing Contest
Register from 8:30- 9:00am and weigh in at 3:00pm at the Long Lake Town Hall Nutrition Site. 

A fun day for teams of an adult and child 15 and under to spend ice fishing on Long Lake, Lake Eaton, Forked Lake or South Pond. 

Prizes for fish in three categories; Pike, Trout (includes Lake Trout and Land Locked Salmon) and perch.  No entry fee. 

 

AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY DINNER 

5:30pm- The public is invited to join the Legionnaires of Hamilton Post 650 celebrating the event in Long Lake.  Since its founding in 1919, The American Legion has served veterans, their families, and the children of the Nation. The legacy of service continues today through Legion programs.  Join your friends and comrades from 5:30 to 6:30pm for a social hour with dinner at 6:30.  For information call 518-624-3077.

Music jamboree featuring a traditional fiddle jam at the opening of the show and close of the show.  Slots for ten fiddlers available - non-competitive.  Two -songs per fiddler. 

Our featured fiddler will be Donny Perkins accompanied by the Perkins Family Band playing three sets. Norm Weller Town will furnish a backup band consisting of guitar, piano and bass.  Look for Local Talent - Dick Pierce and his friends from Rochester to play a special set.

Admission $6 age 17 & up,  $2 ages 11 to 16, accompanied 10 & under are free

Memorial Day Parade
8:30am- Honor Guard and drum & Bugle corps march from the Town Hall to the bridge for a ceremony honoring those lost at sea.  The Honor Guard returns to the Town Hall and the parade forms up to march to the cemetery for a ceremony honoring those who have served in times of War. After, parade reforms to march to the Vietnam Memorial at Mt. Sabattis, ending at the Town Hall.

American Legion Flag Disposal Ceremony

7:00pm-The Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags has been an integral part of American Legion ritual since adoption in September 20-23, 1937.  It is fitting and proper that worn and unserviceable Flags be condemned and properly destroyed.  If you have any flags which you wish to have destroyed, please bring to the Town Office Building or bring to the ceremony.

Only fish caught in Long Lake are eligible. $20 entry fee. Weight Breaks all ties.

Raquette Lake - Labor Day Monday Celebration – 1:00pm- Music on the village green

Snowshoe races for prize money. RL Volunteer Fire Department sells deep fried turkey & spit cooked beef sandwiches.

Old Forge

Twenty Fourth Annual Adirondack Canoe Classic ~ 90 miles
The Adirondack Watershed Alliance, NYS DEC, the Central Adirondack Association, Franklin County Tourism. Old Forge and Long Lake Tourism will host the 24th annual Adirondack Canoe Classic, The "90 Miler" strikes a Balance of both recreational and competitive pursuit among the 250 vessels and 500+ participants who enter the Event. Paddlers travel the original "highways" of the Adirondacks from Old Forge to Saranac Lake paddling through the heart of the Adirondack mountain wilderness.

There are classes for open touring, tandem & solo recreational, stock and racing canoes. Men, women and mixed. Recreation, Touring and Unlimited kayaks, Guideboats, C - 4's, and War Canoes. Entry forms are sent out mid June, There is a 250-boat maximum. There is no day of race registration! Entry fee is $90 per paddler.

The 2005 90 Miler was recognized as "Race of the Year" by the New York Marathon Canoe Race Association. We offer friendly competition and genuinely warm Adirondack hospitality. The Adirondack Canoe Classic Community-is comprised of numerous small business, volunteers and supporters who make the event the highlight of the paddling year for the Adirondack Series

DAY 1: Start in Old Forge NY on Old Forge Pond; paddle and carry through the Fulton Chain of Lakes; continue on to Raquette Lake, the Marion River and the Eckford Chain of Lakes ending in Blue Mountain Lake. Distance: 35 miles with 4 carries totaling 35 miles

22nd Annual Rustic Fair Adirondack Museum, Routes 28N and 30, Blue Mountain Lake NY 12812

Talented artists from the Adirondack Park and across the United States bring highly prized craftsmanship and creative expression to the one-of-a-kind rustic designs to be exhibited and sold at the Adirondack Museum’s 21st Annual Rustic Fair. Twenty Forth Annual Adirondack Canoe Classic ~ 90 miles
DAY 2: Start at Bissell's on Long Lake; paddle down Long Lake and into the Raquette River; carry around Raquette Falls; continue on the Raquette River to a finish at the NYS Raquette River Boat Launch (The Crusher) on Rt. 3 & 30 (approx 5 miles east of Tupper Lake village. Distance: 30 miles with 1 carry of 1.25 miles.

Long Lake

The Long Lake Long Boat Regatta  Long Lake Public Beach  The Adirondack Watershed Alliance and Long Lake Tourism will host the inaugural end of the Adirondack paddling season festival with a backdrop of spectacular fall foliage. The feature eVerit will be The North American War Canoe Championships, a 22-mife Flatwater race on Long Lake. Other events include a 22 - mile C-4 Marathon, Unlimited kayak competition, 10 mile canoe, kayak, guideboat outrigger and dragon boat races for youth and adults, and plenty of fun competition and demonstrations. All races begin and end at the beach across from the Adirondack Hotel in Long Lake. The first race will begin at 10:00 AM. The 3rd Annual T.H.E. Loop motorcycle ride
Last year T.H.E. (Touch, Heal, Empower) Loop raised $5000.00 which was split between The Image Fund at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at the Glens Falls Hospital and the purchasing of an Oncology Treatment Chair for the Oncology Department at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
This year all pledge monies received will be split between again between The Image Fund at the C. R. Wood Cancer Center and AMC Cares Image Fund. This event pledges go 100% to patients. With every $20.00 pledged you receive a chance for an overnight for two at The Hedges Resort in Blue Mtn. Lake.
The ride leaves promptly at 11a.m. from the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion in Long Lake. The ride continues through the towns of Newcomb, Minerva, North Creek, Indian Lake, Blue Mtn. Lake, and returns to the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion by 2 p.m. for festivities.

Harvest Festival

10am-3pm at the Long Lake Town Hall on the Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend.  Craftspeople with American made wares. There will be jewelry, soaps and scents, candles, quilts, items knitted, crocheted, woven and sewn, table runners, a wood turner, furniture items, syrup and balsam products.  Mums, Indian corn, miniature through large pumpkins for decorating and home made pies, also a wide variety of apples and cider. The Harvest Festival is sure to fill your bountiful needs and Christmas shopping list.

Snowmobile Course Safety Course
8am – 5pm Geiger Arena
Youth ages 14 through 17 years old may operate a snowmobile without adult or other supervision if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York. Youth ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York and are accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is at least 18 years of age.

Children under 10 years old or under age 14 without a safety certificate may operate a snowmobile only on lands owned or leased by their parent or guardian.

This course provides fundamental information which all snowmobilers should possess in order to ensure the safety of riders and other trail users. Successful completion of this course results in the award of a NYS Snowmobile Safety Certificate.

COMMUNITY CHOIR CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Long Lake Town Hall. 8pm This free event features a variety of Christmas music including semi-classical, pop, carols and more.  Under the direction of Karin Cook, music teacher at Long Lake Central School, the Chorus is made up of members from Long Lake, Tupper Lake, Newcomb, Indian Lake and Speculator.  All are welcome to participate.  If interested call 518-624-3077 for information.
